BAZAARNAMA
Bazaars have had their own space in Mumbai’s culture since before Independence and have adapted to changing economies. With the rise of corporate big box stores, online shopping, and Covid-19 restrictions, they are in danger of shutting down.
Mumbai has a range of specialized physical markets created by either a physical product or a service rendered. These markets are run by people from minority communities, mostly Muslims and lower-caste Hindus. Due to the increasing communal violence plaguing India since 2014, many of these businesses have suffered greatly. They are in urgent need of repairs and some good publicity.
This app is your guide through these markets. Each market has been mapped and gives the user information about vendors and their specialties. Along with the app, I also created some marketing material like guerilla marketing posters to help market the vendors highlighted in the app.
