PRIMERO SUEÑO
Primero Sueño (First Dream), Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz’s iconic poem, is celebrated as one of the greatest works of the Hispanic Baroque. The poem explores themes of mysticism, feminism, and the power of the natural world, inviting deep reflection on the human spirit.
In a groundbreaking collaboration between composer Paola Prestini and jazz legend Magos Herrera, the words of Sor Juana come to life in their first operatic form. Primero Sueño takes shape as a spiritual journey, unfolding through a physical procession at The Met Cloisters. Magos Herrera portrays Sor Juana, accompanied by the acclaimed Leipzig-based vocal ensemble Sjaella and a team of virtuoso multi-instrumentalists, all under the direction of Louisa Proske, known for her work on The Mother of Us All at The Met.
For this remarkable production, I worked closely with The Met Live Arts and VisionIntoArt teams to design distinctive Key Art for marketing materials. I also created social media content, including a trailer and several highlight videos, showcasing the talent of the cast and crew, to engage and excite audiences ahead of the performance.
